Returning to Training 2021

Summer is soon coming to an end, which means cadets will be starting up again! We are very excited to be back in person. On Tuesday, September 7th we will be holding a registration and uniform exchange night, with regular training resuming the following week. This registration night will be an opportunity for returning cadets and their parents to complete their annual information validations, return uniform items that no longer fit and be issued new uniforms. New cadets looking to register are also encouraged to attend on this night to complete their registration and watch a demonstration of our new Flight Simulators! Please read the entirety of this letter carefully as it contains important instructions.

COVID-19 Measures

Due to the fact that the Canadian Cadet Organization is a federal program overseen by the Canadian Armed Forces, we are required to follow their COVID-19 guidelines regardless of the fact that the province of Alberta has eliminated all restrictions. As such, anyone entering the building will be required to wear a mask and social distancing measures will be implemented.

Timings

Cadets are to report to the D Coy Armouries at the following times on September 7th. Please note that new cadets are welcome at any time between 6:30 and 9:30 pm that evening. Other than Level Five cadets (see below) once you have completed the paperwork and uniform exchange you will be free to leave.

  • 6:30 pm – Level Five* and Level Five Qualified cadets
  • 7:00 pm – Level 1-4 last name A-F
  • 7:30 pm – Level 1-4 last name F-M
  • 8:00 pm – Level 1-4 last name N-S
  • 8:30 pm – Level 1-4 last name T-Z

*Please note that this refers to the training level you will be entering this fall, so if you were in level one last year you are now in level two. If you were in level two you are now in level three and so on.

New Cadets

New cadets wishing to enroll must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must bring a birth certificate and provincial health care card. New cadets must be:

  • At least 12 years of age at the time of enrollment
  • A Canadian Citizen or permanent resident

Annual Validation

All returning cadets must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the 7th as our annual validation paperwork must be completed.

Uniforms

We have exciting news regarding our uniforms! All cadets will now be issued a Field Training Uniform. This is a durable, easy to care for uniform that is meant to be worn for training and activities where you need to be physically active or will possibly get dirty. Don’t worry, your dress uniform isn’t going anywhere. All cadets will now be issued two complete uniforms, with your FTU being the standard uniform for regular training and the dress uniform being worn for formal and ceremonial events. That being said, this creates twice as much work for our Supply Officer, and with virtually every cadet having outgrown their dress uniform and requiring a new one, they are going to be very busy for the next little while, so please bear with us. We will be doing as much uniform issue and exchange as possible on the 31st, but it is likely that we will not get through everyone, so please be patient. Priority for uniform and supply issues will be as follows:

  1. Issue of FTU to returning cadets
  1. Issue of FTU to new cadets
  1. Dress uniform exchange for returning cadets
  1. Issue of dress uniform to new cadets

Please bring any uniform items that no longer fit with you on the 31st.

Level Five Cadets

Level Five and Level Five Qualified Cadets have a training session with the Training Staff on the 7th Please report to the DCoy for 6:30 pm with your parent/guardian to complete your annual validation and supply appointments. Once this is complete your parents will be free to go and we will begin our training session. You will be finished no later than 9:00 pm.

We are all very excited to have you back and are looking forward to a safe, fun and challenging training year.
