    • Survivair – At the D-Coy Armouries 1830-2100hrs in civilian attire. Bring a water bottle and fitness gear. All cadets welcome!!

    • Band Rehearsal – At the D-Coy Armouries 1300-1500hrs in civilian attire.
  • Monday Nov 27, 2023
    • Drill Team Practice – At the D-Coy Armouries 1700-1900hrs
    • Ground School – At the D-Coy Armouries in large classroom 1900-2100hrs. Report cards are required from all registered in OGS. Let Capt Lynch know your medical status;  if you have booked an appointment, if you have had an appointment, or if you have a completed medical. Jr Ground School is open to cadets 14 years or older. If you are 13 and interested talk to Capt Lynch.
    • Marksmanship Tryouts – At D-Coy Armouries in civilian attire. 1900-2100hrs The teams have been selected.
  • Tuesday Nov 28, 2023 
    • Meet and Greet Potluck (Regular Training Night) – 1830-2130hrs at D-Coy Armouries, dress is civilian attire. This is for all cadets and their immediate families (parents/siblings). We ask that each cadet bring something that is assigned to them by last name. If cadets are in the same family, they are only required to bring one thing. Each dish should serve about 10-12 people. 
      • Please include an index card with indredients for any food supplied, due to allergies. Label all dishes with the cadet’s last name. All dishes must be Peanut Free.  
      • By Last Name:
        • A-C – Mains
        • D-J – Desserts
        • K-M – Drinks (canned pop, case of juice boxes, case of water, etc.)
        • O-S – Sides/Salads
        • T-Z – Napkins/Cutlery/Bowls/Plates
      • We look forward to seeing all our cadets and their families. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your SSC Board. 

 

UPCOMING DATES:

  • Nov 24-26 – Year 5 Workshops in Edmonton (Year 5 Cadets registered to go) Year 5 cadets are leaving from the D-Coy Armouries at 1600hrs on Friday Nov 24 and returning on Sunday Nov 26 at 2200hrs.
  • Nov 28 – Meet and Greet Potluck (All cadets and immediate families)
  • **New Date Dec 9 – Marksmanship Day (All cadets, chance to get marksmanship badges)

 

SQUADRON SPONSORING COMMITTEE:

  • Air Cadet League of Alberta Cash Calendars are available again this year for fundraising. Calendars will be available for pick-up at the beginning and end of Tuesday night training. 
  • Every first Tuesday of the month is a Parent/ SSC Board Meeting @ 630pm at the Armouries. Thank you to all the parents that attended this week! Next meeting Dec 5, 2023

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Congratulations to our Biathlon teams for their zone competition performance! It was hard fought and we do have a team going to Provincial Championships this year, congratulations to Cdt Lorencz and Cdt Takeuchi, K!!! They will be competing as a team in the Junior Male category. 
  • Please ensure any absences are texted or voice mailed to the squadron number – 780-538-3610
  • Parents you are highly encouraged to come into the armouries during closing announcements/parade. That way you can hear all the information directly! We normally start them around 915pm.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Remembrance Day is around the corner, it is important for cadets to ensure their uniforms are maintained. This year level 1 & 3 cadets will attend the indoor ceremony, level 2 and 4s the outdoor ceremony. The band/flag party will be at the outdoor ceremony, and seniors spread between the 2. If you are wishing to attend another other ceremony outside of Grande Prairie please inform the training staff. Cadets are not allowed to attend other ceremonies in uniform without approval before hand by the Squadron. 
  • Cadets wanting to participate in their school remembrance day ceremonies are free to do so. Make sure your uniform is worn correctly and ironed/boots polished/ clean etc. As well as you are representing the Cadet Program in a positive and appropriate manner. If you are unsure what you should do in your school ceremonies please as the Sqn Staff.
