This week:

  • Thursday Feb 1, 2024
    • Survivair – At the D-Coy Armouries 1830-2100hrs in civilian attire. Bring a water bottle and fitness gear.
    • Biathlon Practice – 1830-2030hrs, final ski practice and gear check before we depart Friday. 
  • Friday Feb 2, 2024
    • Biathlon Team leaving for Provincials – please ensure you have all your kit emailed to you and be at the Armouries for 1800hrs. Earlier is better for this.   
  • Sunday Feb 4, 2024
    • Band Practice – At the D-Coy Armouries 1300-1500hrs in civilian attire
  • Monday Feb 5, 2024
    • Drill Team Practice – At D-Coy Armouries 1700-1900hrs
    • Ground School – No ground school
    • Marksmanship Team – 1900-2100hrs for marksmanship team only. Reminder that your Stage II Competition is on Feb 12th, at the D-Coy
  • Tuesday Feb 6, 2024 
    • Regular Training (CO’s Parade) – At D-Coy Armouries 1830-2130hrs. Dress for the evening will be C1A Orders of Dress Reference
      • Senior cadets, Staff Cadet positions for summer CTC’s are now open. We ar hoping to get the specific positions that will be available to you as soon as we can.

  • Feb 3-4, 2024 – Biathlon Provincials (Biathlon cadets selected only)
  • Feb 12, 2024 – Stage II Marksmanship (Marksmanship Team only)
  • Mar 16, 2024 – Squadron Drill Day (All Cadets)
  • Mar 29 – Apr 7, 2024 – Spring Break no training

    • Calendar money and calendar stubs must be returned ASAP. 
  • Logo Design Contest – We are in our 2 week voting period, voting can be done at the D-Coy Armouries starting Tuesday. Thank you to all the cadets that submitted their designs!!
  • Every first Tuesday of the month is a Parent/ SSC Board Meeting @ 630pm at the Armouries. Thank you to all the parents that attended this week! Next meeting Feb 6, 2024

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Please ensure any absences are texted or voice mailed to the squadron number – 780-538-3610
  • Parents you are highly encouraged to come into the armouries during closing announcements/parade. That way you can hear all the information directly! We normally start them around 915pm.

    • Band Practice – At the D-Coy Armouries 1300-1500hrs in civilian attire
  • Monday Jan 29, 2024
    • Drill Team Practice – At D-Coy Armouries 1700-1900hrs
    • Ground School – No ground school
    • CANCELLED Marksmanship Team – Practice Cancelled this evening. Reminder that your Stage II Competition is on Feb 12th, at the DCoy

  • Tuesday Jan 23, 2024 
    • Airport Tour – Regular Training – At Grande Prairie Airport 1830-2100hrs
    • On Tuesday 23rd Jan 2024, The cadets of 577 will be touring the Grande Prairie Airport. Cadets are to be dropped off and picked up by their parents at the Maintenance Gate #1. See map for direction. Being the larger number of cadets our squadron has and for that Cadets have a better experience. Alpha and Bravo flights (as well cadets that are new and not assigned to flights yet) are to be dropped off for 1830hrs and ready for parental pick up for 1945hrs. Charlie flight, Band and flag party are to be dropped of for 1930hrs and parental pick up for 2100hrs. Dress for the Tour is FTU’s. Make sure to wear your Cadets Parka, Toque and gloves. If you are unable to attend, Text the Office number and let them know you will not be able to attend.
      Any Cadet that still has not updated their medical verification will not be able to attend.
    • Senior Cadets applying for the Lord Strathcona Medal and the Legion Medal of Excellence, you applications are due tonight.

  • Calling all Artists!! – Logo Design Contest Over Christmas break we are asking cadets who are interested to create a logo they feel represents the 577 squadron. Designs can be brought in on January 16th  (New Extended Deadline), the first meeting back, or they can be emailed to 577parentassociation@gmail.com Please keep the design simple and not too complicated to avoid delays as the designs do need to be transferred into the proper format for application. No crest/crown allowed. All entries received by January 16 will be voted on over a two week period and the design with the most votes will be chosen to represent 577!

Cadets Cancelled Jan 16, 2024

Please be advised that due to a a facility issue tuesday night training on Jan 16th, 2024 is cancelled.
