Announcements: Week of Nov 1, 2022

THIS WEEK:

  • Thursday Nov 3, 2022 –
    • Groundschool 1900-2100hrs at D-Coy Armouries in training rooms 3 & 4. Civilian attire
    • Survivair 1830-2100hrs at D-Coy Armouries- Civilian attire
  • Saturday Nov 5, 2022 – Squadron Drill Day at D-Coy Armouries. 0900-1600hrs with ALL cadets. Lunch will be provided to cadets, if you have food restrictions please let your senior cadets know (eat breakfast before coming). Cadets are asked to wear their Field Training Uniforms, and bring all pieces of their blue dress uniforms with them. Make sure to label bags and parts that are brought. Cadets are also asked by the Warrants to bring, a water bottle, boot polishing kit, a towel (just over the shoulders is fine), and a sewing kit if possible.
  • Sunday Nov 6, 2022
    • Drill Team – 1300-1500hrs at D-Coy – bring your boots and wedge, civilian attire
    • Band Rehearsal – 1500-1700hrs at D-Coy – civilian attire
  • Monday Nov 7, 2022 – Marksmanship 1800-2000hrs at D-Coy in civilian attire, please see attached the tryout lists of what cadets are shooting on which day. We cannot shoot them all on the same night, it is VITAL that you come on your assigned evening ensure timings and space work out. Marksmanship tryouts list
  • Tuesday Nov 8, 2022 – Regular Training 1830-2130hrs at D-Coy. Dress for the evening will be C3 Orders of Dress Reference

Upcoming: Remembrance Day – Nov 11, 2022. This year level 1+3 cadets will be attending the indoor ceremony held at the Bonnetts Centre. Level 2+4’s will be at the outdoor ceremony meeting at the Trinity Lutheran Church and then marching to the Cenotaph in Jubilee Park. Timings will be announced next week but are typically roughly around 1000-1200hrs. These are mandatory events to attend!! 

  • If you have siblings from different levels you may pick one ceremony to attend if assigned to different venues, simply inform your warrant officers. If you wish to attend another ceremony in your own town/community (ex. Sexsmith, Beaverlodge, etc) please let your warrant officers know you are doing so.

  • Friday Oct 28, 2022 – Biathlon practice 1800-2000hrs at D-Coy be ready to run and shoot tonight.
  • Saturday Oct 29, 2022 – Biathlon Zone Competition. Biathlon cadets please prepared for the competition for Saturday morning. 2Lt Trepanier will let you know timings on Friday, they will likely be roughly 0800-1300hrs. IT will be at the D-Coy dress in layers for your competition.
  • Sunday Oct 30, 2022
    • Drill Team – 1300-1500hrs at D-Coy – bring your boots and wedge
    • Band Rehearsal – 1500-1700hrs at D-Coy
  • Monday Oct 31, 2022 – NO Marksmanship as it is Halloween. Please keep an eye out for who is shooting when in the coming days or Nov 1 training night at the latest.
  • Tuesday Nov 1, 2022 – Regular Training 1830-2130hrs at D-Coy. Dress for the evening will be C3 Orders of Dress Reference
  • Saturday Nov 5, 2022 – Squadron Drill Day – Timing to be announced next week, all day event at D-Coy. Day to teach and learn more specific drill and how to maintain your uniforms.

this week:

  • NO Survivair, Band or Drill this week
  • Thursday Oct 20, 2022 – Groundschool 1900-2100hrs at D-Coy Armouries in training rooms 3 & 4
  • Saturday Oct 22, 2022 – Biathlon Practice 1000-1200hrs at D-Coy Armouries. Again be prepared for outdoor weather and running
  • Monday Oct 24, 2022 – Marksmanship 1800-2000hrs at D-Coy Armouries. All cadets signed up are to attend, we will not be shooting yet but will be going through rifle and range safety. The following weeks we will split cadets up to specific weeks to ensure adequate time for everyone to shoot. 
  • Tuesday Oct 25, 2022 – Halloween event for training 1830-2130hrs. D-Coy Armouries, no uniforms instead wear a Halloween costume or appropriate attire. Costumes must be appropriate for cadets and no fake or real weapons are allowed. As well cadets should bring some of the following. Alpha Flight is to bring pop, Bravo Flight is to bring chips, and Charlie Flight is to bring Candy. NO nut products.

Announcements: Week of Oct 11, 2022

this week:

  • Thursday Oct 13, 2022
    • Survivair 1830-2100hrs @ D-Coy Armouries, please dress to go outside for some of the activities.
    • Ground School –

      For the 2022-23 training year there will be two concurrent optional ground schools running. Both will occur Thursdays from 1900-2100hrs at the D-Coy Armouries. Sessions will run from 13 Oct through mid Jan. Uniforms are not required.

      Those who are or will be registered in Fortress for GPTC/PPTC (summer of 2023) will have a classroom to work on the Online Ground School (OGS) and access to volunteer pilots to answer questions or explain concepts. Note the deadline this year for Fortress registration is 15 Oct. To allow Sqn staff time to register a cadet in Fortress, the cadet must complete the Ground School Interest/Signup well before 15 Oct. Without a Fortress registration there is no option to apply for GPTC/PPTC occurring in 2023.

      Those not old enough to apply for summer 2023 will be in a separate classroom learning flying topics in an instructor led class with a volunteer pilot. This class in open to Level 3 and above, or 14 years of age and older.

  • Saturday Oct 15, 2022 – Biathlon Practice 1000-1200hrs meeting at D-Coy Armouries (outside). Please dress for the weather outside and bring a water bottle, we will be doing dryland fitness training for the morning.
  • Sunday Oct 16, 2022
    • Drill Team Practice – 1300-1500hrs at D-Coy Armouries
    • Band Rehearsal – 1500-1700hrs at D-Coy Armouries
  • Tuesday Oct 18, 2022 – Wings Parade – 1830-2130hrs at D-Coy Armouries formal parade for promotions, awards, presenting pilots wings and more. This is within our regular training time. Parents are encouraged to attend to watch. The dress for the evening will be C1. Orders of Dress Reference  If your cadet does not a dress uniform they can wear their FTU’s FTU Order of Dress

  • Extra-curriculars are still taking cadets if you are interests see the sign-ups in the armouries, ask your senior cadets first, and then bug the staff.
